Anthony Pettis and Michael Chiesa agree to meet in the Octagon at UFC 223

Anthony Pettis and Michael Chiesa could add to an already stacked card!

This fight has yet to become official, but both Anthony Pettis and Michael Chiesa have agreed to fight at UFC 223 in Brooklyn. The fight would feature two very talented Lightweight fighters in what might be the deepest division in the UFC. Anthony Pettis is currently ranked 13th and Chiesa is ranked 9th. It would be a very important fight for both fighters in their attempts to get back into the title picture.

Michael Chiesa (13-3) will be attempting to rebound from a loss to Kevin Lee that saw him on the verge of a big, big fight. Prior to that loss, he’d won three in a row, and did so impressively.  Chiesa is a talented, well-rounded fighter with a very advanced submission and grappling game.

Anthony Pettis (20-7) is a former Lightweight champion. He’s 2-5 in his last 7 fights, but he’s a gifted striker and is seldom outgunned in a fight. He has lost to the elite of the division during this streak. He’s dropped fights to Rafael Dos Anjos, Eddie Alvarez, Max Holloway, Dustin Poirier and Edson Barboza. He’s coming off of an absolute war with Dustin Poirier, a fight where Pettis lost due to injury.  He injured his ribs and was forced to quit when Poirier had his back and was applying pressure.

It’s a must-win fight for both men and will most assuredly result in an instant classic. When the fight becomes official, we’ll pass that on to you.
