You may have seen the beautiful Gina Rodriguez showing off her stunning new body on the Golden Globes red carpet last night. What you may not know is where Gina and boyfriend Joe Locicero have been for the last month, working on it. Before attending the Golden Globes (where she was nominated for best actress in a television series), Gina escaped to Thailand. She spent the entire month of December training at the AKA Thailand super gym on the island of Phuket.
Gina Rodriguez stunning at the 2017 Golden Globes
Gina is no beginner when it comes to fight training and has trained boxing for many years. Her father was a boxing referee and he taught her how to box, beginning at a young age. The love of training has stuck with her thorough the years. So when it was time to get away and get into shape, she chose Thailand as the place to do it.
The trip wasn’t just about training, however. The couple received the grand tour of Phuket by AKA’s very own Mike Swick.
“It was great to see how happy Gina and Joe were, here in Thailand. I took them to see all the cool excursions and they still hardly ever missed a training session. Gina trains really hard, takes it very serious, and Joe is already quite experienced as a fighter. He almost took a fight here actually, but it fell through at the last minute. Was really fun hanging out with them both!”
