Bellator 180 will be at Madison Square Garden, and on PPV

We’re finally going to see the Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva fight!

Bellator 180 will take place at Madison Square Garden, and it will be a return to PPV for the promotion. Headlining the event will be the highly anticipated fight between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva.  The two have been on the verge of a fight for a long time, and people will undoubtedly tune in for this clash.

Bellator has been building their roster and now they believe it’s worthy of PPV.  Scott Coker spoke to Greg Beacham of The Seattle Times and said the following.

“We always said that when we come to New York, we’ll bring the biggest and the best fight card we’ve ever had in the history of this company. We’re putting it together, and our roster is robust enough that we feel like it’s time to get into the pay-per-view business, so here we go.”

Sonnen is quotable, big surprise.

Chael Sonnen was also quoted, and he’s excited to be part of the Bellator brand.

“I’ve watched how hard Bellator has worked and how they’ve stuck through it, and I think they belong on pay-per-view. After a I joined up, I was stunned that Bellator was packing houses from the East Coast to the West Coast. They’ve got a great product, and it just seemed like the next logical step was going into pay-per-view.”

The event will take place June 24th, and as of this time, only the main event of Sonnen and Silva has been announced.  We will certainly have more on this as it develops.  It seems reasonable to end this with Chael Sonnen, being Chael Sonnen.  New York MMA is a big deal these days after it finally became legalized after a lengthy battle. Chael summed it up like this.

“New York is a big deal for a lot of people,” Sonnen said. “I’m a big deal for New York.”
