Bellator wins ratings war with UFC this past weekend.

This has to be a happy day inside of the Bellator offices.

This past weekend, the UFC and Bellator flip-flopped their normal nights and both aired live and free shows on cable television. The UFC ran on the FXX Network on Friday night, and Bellator ran on Spike TV Saturday night. The Ratings were released, and it seems Bellator drew the larger audience.  That’s big news, anytime Bellator wins ratings war vs. the UFC it’s party time in California.

The UFC was headlined by the last minute replacement fight featuring Ovince Saint Preux and Yushin Okami. The co-main event features a war between Strawweights Claudia Gadelha and Jessica Andrade.  Of course, the UFC also featured the promotional debut of kickboxing legend Gokhan Saki.  The UFC averaged 502,000 viewers on Friday night.

Bellator was headlined by Benson Henderson and Patricky Freire. It also featured a classic Welterweight battle between Paul Daley and Lorenz Larkin. Roy Nelson’s debut was also on the show as was Aaron Pico’s second professional fight. Those fights managed to pull in an average of 598,000 viewers and peaked at 847,000 viewers.
