Cain Velasquez has had a tough go as of late. As someone that’s been a staple in the UFC’s heavyweight division since he won the title from Brock Lesnar at UFC 121 in 2010, Cain is often touted as the best heavyweight to ever step into the octagon.
Unfortunately, as tends to happen with contact sports, injuries have interfered with a good portion of his career since that time.
Recently, he was set to take on Fabricio Werdum at UFC 207 but was pulled by the Nevada State Athletic Commission due to an impending back surgery. While the surgery was a success, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done for Cain to feel 100% again.
Rising heavyweight prospect Francis Ngannou has staked his interest in wanting to fight Cain, but unfortunately, we won’t be seeing that fight anytime soon.
