Dana White’s Contender Series is off to a great start. There were blistering fast knockouts, as well as three round wars. Chris Curtis had a back and forth battle with Sean Lally and then scored a spectacular knockout in the third round that started with a hook kick.
It was an impressive performance, but seemingly not impressive enough for Dana White. Curtis wasn’t chosen for the UFC contract and issued a statement via his Facebook.
“Well, I broke my hand in the first and that’s going to require surgery, sooo super. But I would like to thank everyone who has shown me love and supported me and helped carry my dream for eleven long years. I cannot tell you what that means to me, but I now officially announce my retirement from MMA. I will keep you guys posted but thank you for now and God bless.”
I assume it was headed in this direction before the fight because retiring on the spot is a pretty drastic move.
