Claudia Gadelha vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz is set for UFC 212

On the heels of the UFC women’s strawweight title announcement of Joanna Jedrzejczyk defending her belt against Jessica Andrade at UFC 211 in May, the UFC announced today that #1 ranked strawweight contender Claudia Gadelha will be facing the #2 ranked Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 212.

Gadelha (14-2) and Kowalkiewicz (10-1) have only suffered defeat from one fighter – Jonna Jedrzejczyk. Should Joanna be successful in her 5th title defense at UFC 211, this bout could very well set up the winner for a rematch.

Both Claudia and Karolina expressed interest in fighting one another recently, and it appears UFC brass was listening.

Gadelha’s last fight in the octagon was a unanimous decision win over Courtney Casey this past November.

Kowalkiewicz is coming off of a UFC 205 unanimous decision loss to Jedrzejczyk, the first of her career.

Headlined by a UFC featherweight title match between champion Jose Aldo and interim champion Max Holloway, UFC 212 takes place Saturday, June 3rd, from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
