Brock Lesnar had a WWE-like scrum with Daniel Cormier, the two will likely meet in January.
We all witnessed the circus that was the UFC 226 post-main-event run-in involving Brock Lesnar and new heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. It was a scripted circus and just like Brock in the WWE, things got a little too real, because he never knows if he’s acting or not. Dude just seriously lives him gimmick 24/7.
Even though the UFC is likely to prime that pump until Brock Lesnar is USADA eligible in January, you’d have to think Dana White would also be focused on his other cash cow, Conor McGregor. If Dana White is to be believed, that’s simply not the case. He spent some time discussing Conor after UFC 226 at the press conference. Here’s what Dana had to say.
“I’m not even thinking about Conor. I’m serious. I know they’re saying there are talks, but we’re not talking about a fight right now. Conor has to get through July. Whatever’s going to happen to him in July, we’ll figure that out. I don’t know what’s going to happen. Is he going to get fined? Is he going to be on probation? Is he going to get this, that? When that’s over with, then we’ll start talking about him fighting.”
It makes sense, but then again, it doesn’t. The UFC doesn’t have Jon Jones, they won’t have Brock or DC likely until January. Who is going to bridge that gap PPV sale wise? I mean, Grabrandt/Dillashaw 2 is a great fight, but those guys haven’t proven to be box office hits. I don’t see anyone breaking down doors to order Demetrious Johnson/Henry Cejudo II either. Robert Whittaker is on the shelf. Colby isn’t a draw in the least. Seems to me that Dana should focus on Conor now and try and get him in a cage with Khabib sometime this fall.
It will be two years in November since Conor has stepped into a UFC octagon. He has however been known to appear backstage from time to time.
