Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson came one step closer to making history at the Tuf 24 Finale this weekend, when he defended his flyweight title for the ninth straight time. 1 more time and he will tie Anderson Silva for most title defenses. While most people find this impressive, many are infatuated with finding out how much money these fighters get paid.
DJ pulled in a cool $195,000 for his title defense this past April, after he stopped Henry Cejudo in the first round. This weekend Johnson pulled in the largest payout of his career, when he fought TUF 24 winner, Tim Elliott. He spoke to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour today and happily confirmed his colossal payday.
Helwani: “Word is you got $350k for this fight. Is that accurate?
Johnson: “Oooh Weee! That is accurate, as far as I know.”
$350,000 for 25 minutes of work and kept his title set comfortably around his waist. That’s all you need to say Mr Mouse! Here’s to hoping that the guy the UFC has billed as ‘the best pound for pound fighter on the planet’, continues to keep his paycheck growing. The man has mice to feed!
