Demetrious Johnson questions the “Super Fight” tag on scrap with Dillashaw
Demetrious Johnson was asked for his take on a potential Super Fight with Dillashaw
Demetrious Johnson was part of a panel discussion sponsored by Metro PCS at UFC 218 with himself, Kevin Lee, Tryon Woodley, Cody Garbrandt and hosted by Forrest Griffin. He was asked if a fight with TJ Dillashaw was next and here’s what he had to say about it.
“We’re working on it, we are working on it. Like I have said I have been out working on the whole logistics matter but we got the call. Malki (Kawa) is doing his job and making sure we get everything right and in line. Everyone and their momma want to see this snake fight so we’ll see if we can get it done. Hopefully we can and go from there. But hey, it’s not a Super Fight if I can fight Sergio Pettis for the exact same damn money. That’s keeping it real, keeping it 100 which is what I do.”
Forrest Griffin responded jokingly with, “Tell us how you really fee, oh wait, you are.”
Despite Dana White really wanting this fight to take place, and TJ Dillashaw already cutting down his body mass to it a reality, Demetrious Johnson won’t enter the cage if he doesn’t feel the deal is right. He’s their longest reigning champion, arguably the pound for pound best fighter on earth and the days of him accepting what he’s offered without hesitation seem behind him.
This could get pretty interesting.
