Demian Maia and the promised title shot, in his own words

Demian Maia has a lot to say regarding upcoming title shot

There are few fighters in the UFC who can say they’ve earned a title shot as clearly as Demian Maia. He has won six consecutive fights in the UFC’s most contentious division. His last victory was against former champion Carlos Condit, finishing Condit in the first round via submission.

Maia (24-6) has been very good since dropping down to Middleweight and he boasts a 9-2 record in the Welterweight division. The two losses came from Rory MacDonald via unanimous decision and Jake Shields in a five round split decision.  Other than those 2 defeats, he’s run off a series of victories against the likes of Jon Fitch, Rick Story, Neil Magny, Gunnar Nelson, Carlos Condit and Matt Brown.  He’s most deserving of facing the winner of Stephen Thompson and Tyron Woodley after their UFC 209 rematch. Whether he gets that opportunity or not remains to be seen.

Here’s what he had to say.
