FS1 Undercard

Mike De La Torre vs. Myles Jury

Rd 1: Jury gets the takedown and works to De La Torre’s back. He secures the body lock and unloads punches on DLT. Elbows to DLT’s face cuts him open and he’s a bloody mess. Jury continues the barrage and the ref stops the fight. Winner by tko, Myles Jury.

Sean Strickland vs. Kamaru Usman

Rd 1: Usman used his grappling in round one to control and pound away on Strickland. Clear control and damage were entirely Usman’s. 10-9 Usman.

Rd 2: Strickland was having a lot of trouble with his left eye, wincing throughout. Usman appears to have no respect for Strickland’s power, who isn’t even throwing punches. Usman moving forward and throwing haymakers. He lands a bomb off of a break and continues the gnp for the rest of the round. 10-8 Usman.

Rd 3: Usman is very loose with his standup and Strickland still not offering up anything in the way of defense. Usman continues his gnp dominance. With one minute left, the punch-stat is 120-20 in favor of Usman. 10 seconds left and Strickland starts swinging away. Too late though. MikeSwick.com has it= 30-26, Usman. Judges have it 30-26 x2, 30-27 for Kamaru Usman.

Shane Burgos vs. Charles Rosa

Rd 1: The contrast of styles in this one is crazy. Rosa is spinning and switching stances, while Burgos moves forward landing crushing shots. Nice back and forth between the two, but I give the edge to Burgos because of his accurate power shots. 10-9 Burgos.

Rd 2: Rosa landed better in round 2, but Burgos was still hitting accurate and hard. Very hard round to score. 10-9 Rosa.

Rd 3: While Rosa connects, his punches have no effect on the Terminator named Shane Burgos. A left hook puts Rosa on rollerskates and then Burgos unloaded clean shots. The ref jumps in as Rosa protests, but Rosa didn’t need to be taking any more of those punches. Winner, Shane Burgos via tko.

Jan Blachowicz vs. Patrick Cummins

Rd 1: Blachowicz blasts Cummins with a left hook to start and drops him. Cummins tries for a choke but loses it. Blachowicz connects with a rough body kick and the round ends with a cut under his Cummins’ eye. 10-8 Blachowicz.

Rd 2: Cummins gets his wits back and uses most of the round to control Blachowicz with his wrestling. Towards the end of the round, Blachowicz is doubled over with his hands on his knees from exhaustion. 10-9 Cummins.

Rd 3: Cummins is back to wrestling. He puts Jan on his back and controls position. Jan tries an armbar to no avail and is dying out there. They get back up and Cummins is knee’ing Jan in the clinch. He gets the takedown again and ends the round on top. 10-9 Cummins. MikeSwick.com= 28-28, Draw. Judges see it 29-28 x2, 28-28 for Patrick Cummins.

UFC Fight Pass Prelims

Gregor Gillespie vs. Andrew Holbrook

Rd 1: Uh oh, Andrew Holbrook is walking out to Eminem. Eminem curse? Yep. Gillespie lands a crushing left that drops Holbrook and follows up with gnp. Gregor Gillespie wakes the crowd up with a :21 knockout.

Josh Emmett vs. Desmond Green

Rd 1: Once again, we see a round that’s very even between two fighters. Green actually looked like he stunned Emmett at one point. The round may have been Emmett’s, due to volume. 10-9 Emmett.

Rd 2: Emmett throwing spazzy looping punches and Green continually slipping, then countering nicely. Green ran away with the round a bit. 10-9 Green.

Rd 3: Emmett threw everything and the kitchen sink at Green and hit a lot of air. Green was stingy with his punches, but when he threw, he landed. 10-9 Green. MikeSwick.com score= 29-28, Green. Judges see it 29-28 30-27, 28-29, winner by split decision, Desmond Green.

Irene Aldana vs. Katlyn Chookagian

Rd 1: The bantamweights went tit for tat in round 1. Nothing significant landed for either woman, however. The cleaner jabs seemed to land for Chookagian. 10-9 Chookagian.

Rd 2: Almost a mirror image of round one, but this time Aldana appeared to land more significant strikes. 10-9 Aldana.

Rd 3: Another round where it’s totally equal. Nothing brutal landed, but it was a non-stop sparring session. 10-10. MikeSwick.com score= draw. Judges see it 29-28 x2, 28-29 for Katlyn Chookagian.

Rd 2: For the second time in as many rounds, Lausa gets kicked in the pills. Big John McCarthy takes a point from Magomed. He gets a quick takedown and spends the rest of the round working ground-and-pound, while Lausa offered very little resistance. 9-9 Bibulatov.
