You want fireworks? Bantamweights Thomas Almeida vs Jimmie Rivera should suffice.

Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum will be the site for the UFC’s first-ever event in Long Island. The UFC on FOX card just got its first marquee matchup that will surely bring fireworks on July 22.

Initially reported by Newsday writer, Mark La Monica, top bantamweight contenders Jimmie Rivera and Thomas Almeida will square off at UFC on FOX 25. The card is currently in the infancy stages but Almeida vs Rivera will join the confirmed bouts of Gian Villante vs Patrick Cummins and Chris Wade vs Frankie Perez.

The card is rumored to have the Korean Zombie take on Ricardo Lamas in the main or co-main event. However, nothing has been announced as official yet.

Rivera is a perfect 4-0 in his UFC campaign. Most recently, he won a unanimous decision over UFC hall-of-famer, Urijah Faber.

Thomas Almeida is 5-1 in the UFC, with his lone loss coming to now champion, Cody Garbrandt. In every one of his wins, Almeida has won a performance bonus.

This fight’s winner should put one of these two at the top of the bantamweight rankings, right behind Cruz and Dillashaw.
