Floyd says Conor made racial remarks and he’s going to pay for it.

Ugh, you hate to see this. However, you almost knew it would happen. Black fighter vs white fighter = someone will make it a racial thing. Every time. Floyd Mayweather sat down with Stephen A Smith and made some serious accusations towards Conor McGregor.

“I just didn’t like him calling us monkeys. I think that was totally disrespectful. He called us monkeys. It didn’t push a button to make me jump out of my character and go crazy, but I didn’t like it.

This is for a cause. This is for the American people. This is for all the blacks around the world.”

The race card was first brought up when May/Mac did their press tour and McGregor called Floyd, ‘boy’. Then, Conor used the word ‘monkey’ several times when describing ‘hanger-ons’. In trying to sell the fight by being funny or crass, McGregor did not choose his words or statements wisely.

From an outside perspective, I don’t think that any of Conor’s comments were racially motivated. However, his word choice and timing has been very poor.  It’s understandable why people are getting upset, regardless if he was being insensitive or not.

Whether Conor was malicious in intent or not, Mayweather seems to have used all of this as a motivator.
