Former Bellator fighter arrested for bank robbery, issues statement via FB

Remember Sergio DaSilva? He was the guy who fought on Bellator’s MSG card but tried to manipulate the scale in ‘Towelgate 2’. He was unsuccessful at the attempt and failed to make weight. Well, apparently, he robbed a bank a couple of weeks ago in New York.

According to TMZ.com,

“He’s accused of busting into a Citibank in Queens in a ski mask on August 24 and making off with around $50,000. Cops say the Bellator fighter claimed to have a gun and threatened to shoot people. Cops say they fingered him by his fingerprints at the scene. He lives just around the corner from the bank.”

Out on bail, he took to his Facebook and issued a statement.

Crazy day to say the least. I am truly overwhelmed by all the love and support I have received. I got all the texts, calls, emails, messages etc. thank you to my phenomenal lawyer I’m home and my attorney is working hard to clear this up. As much as I would love to speak more about the allegations my legal team has rightfully advised me against discussing any details until the case is over. We are following all the necessary steps required. All I ask is for everyone to please respect my family during this difficult times also please understand my distance. I do not have my cell phone. Should have it in the next few days. I’m ready to cooperate and clear up my name.
