Former Interim champ, Shane Carwin, officially calls it a career.
Shane Carwin has been teasing retirement for years. Conversely, Big Shane has also teased a comeback to fighting. In the immortal words of Jeff Spicoli, “Well make up your mind, dude. Is he gonna shit or is he gonna kill us?”
It appears that Shane has actually made his mind up and decided he will no longer compete professionally. In only three short sentences via his Facebook, ‘The Engineer’ said goodbye.
Shane got into the sport late and left early. In such a short amount of time, he managed to create quite a name for himself. His 12 career wins were his first 12 fights. All of those fights ended in the first round. His career culminated with a win over Frank Mir to become the UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion.
He dropped his last 2 (and only 2) fights in violent fashion. After that, he was briefly linked to a couple of fights but nothing came to fruition. Shane went back to his job as a full-time engineer after that.
Because the world needs enormous nerds who are super nitpicky that can beat the crap out of their co-workers, if need be.
