NGannou was involved in as bad a fight as I can remember with Derrick Lewis
People sat in absolute shock watching Francis NGannou take on Derick Lewis. Everyone was expecting rock-em-sock-em robots with extreme violence and it wasn’t what we got. Instead, two of the most dynamic and heavy-handed punchers spent 15 minutes not engaging with each other. At one point, like 8 minutes into the fight, NGannou had only landed a single strike.
The fans booed, Joe Rogan called it the worst heavyweight fight in history Twitter was on fire with people just venting and showing shock. It can happen, and Saturday it happened to Francis NGannou. Here’s what he said about the fight and why perhaps it went in such a fashion.
I am not proud of my last performance. I have carried my fear from the last fight to this one. I completely understand the frustration & anger that it has caused to my fans, coaches, teammates, family and friends and I am truly sorry for that. I won’t let everyone down again. All I can do now is prove myself and make you proud again. #UFC226
