BREAKING: Georges St. Pierre and UFC agree to terms, according to reports
The news that we have all been waiting on for quite some time appears to be happening. MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani is reporting that sources have confirmed that George St. Pierre and the UFC have agreed to terms, and that he is on the verge of signing a new, multi-fight deal with the UFC.
Just two days ago on the MMA Hour in an interview with Helwani, UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping claimed that a deal between GSP and the UFC was almost done, and that GSP wanted to fight him.
Dana White has also hinted this past weekend in Brooklyn that he and GSP have straightened things out between them.
Usually in the tricky world of mixed martial arts, when all signs are pointing to one road, that road usually leads to the exact place expected. And in this case, all signs are pointing to a GSP return to the octagon.
According to the report, a return in the third quarter of 2017 is being targeted. With the immediate future of so many top fighters on the UFC roster currently up in the air, this news couldn’t come at a better time for the promotion.
George St. Pierre (25-2) is a 2x UFC welterweight champion and has won his last 12 fights, a streak that dates back to 2007.
We will have more on this news as it unfolds. Stay tuned…
