Greg Hardy is back for round two on the Contender Series
Greg Hardy competed on The Contender Series and earned a contract with a first-round knockout. Dana White said at the time that he wanted to get Hardy back into the cage soon. That said, I don’t think many people, Hardy included figured it would be back on the Contender Series again.
Per a report via ESPN, Greg Hardy will compete against Tebaris Gordon on August 7th. Gordon is 3-0 as a professional. It’s an interesting development for Greg Hardy, as most would assume that once you’ve earned a contract you’d be fighting on actual UFC events and not back on the Contender Series. So if Greg Hardy loses, does he lose his contract?
As you probably know, there was not a lot of support for Greg Hardy getting a shot in the UFC in the first place due to his history with domestic violence and battery. He was forced out of the NFL after suspensions for both domestic assault and cocaine possession. He did what he had to do on the small regional circuit to get his feet wet in the sport, and as a result, the UFC gave him an opportunity. He absolutely took advantage of it.
Tebaris Gordon tweeted a week ago that he’d have big, big fight news soon, now we know what he was tweeting about.
