Greg Hardy is a figure that will bring curious eyes to the UFC as well as negative press.
Greg Hardy showed up in Las Vegas and took part in the kickoff episode of season 2 of Dana White’s Contender Series. There are always a lot of opinions swirling around Greg Hardy due to his ugly history of domestic violence. Dana White was asked at the UFC 225 press conference about giving Hardy a chance. He was quoted as saying,
“I guess he had a real bad drug and alcohol problem. Started to get into MMA. Cleaned himself up. If you talk to anybody he trains with, male or female, they say that he’s a very good guy. He’s very humble. Everybody deserves a second chance. And the guy was never charged with anything, he was never sentenced or anything like that. We’re going to give him a shot.”
Well, I guess Dana needs to refresh his cookies or something because he’s not getting correct info on his google machine. Greg Hardy was in fact charged and found guilty of domestic violence. A judge sentenced him. On appeal, the case went to a trial jury. In the end, the charges were dismissed and expunged from his record because the victim did not show up for the trial. It was revealed she accepted a monetary settlement.
All that being said, Greg Hardy is in the UFC. He dominated former NFL player Austen Lane was signed by Dana White. Here’s a clip of the KO, courtesy of Watch Stadium.
