Per the UFC, Alan Jouban will take on Gunnar Nelson at the March 18th UFC Fight Night in London.
Gunnar Nelson (15-2-1) fought this past May and earned a submission (neck crank) win over Albert Tumenov. Currently, Nelson sits at the #9 spot in the UFC welterweight rankings. A win over Jouban would put him on a two fight win streak and could potentially open the door to a top 5 opponent.
Alan Jouban (15-4) is on a three fight win streak and all of them came in 2016. His latest win was against the much hyped ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry, two months ago. Jouban dominated the then undefeated Perry, for three rounds. If Jouban manages to beat Nelson, he could propel himself into the top ten of the UFC welterweight division.
Nelson has terrific standup, but his grappling is out of this world. Jouban also has great striking and can brawl if he needs to. This is a great match-up on a card that really needed some extra star power.
