UFC heavyweight starts GoFundMe to fly corner to Brazil

You always hate to see these things happen, but it is a sad reality for UFC fighters. Basically, some can’t even afford to fight, so they have to start a GoFundMe. UFC heavyweight, Timothy Johnson, is the latest to do it.

Just because these guys are on television, it doesn’t mean they get the perks of a television star. In fact, it’s far from it. He fights next week on the UFC main card from Brazil and he has to fly his corner out with him. Johnson broke it down on his GoFundMe page.

“As many of you know, the UFC has me travelling around the world for fights. What most people don’t know is they only pay for two (airline) tickets. Sponsorship money is tight and had a few not contribute to this trip. So I’m asking for your help in the last minute ditch effort to help get my other two coaches to Brazil for my fight, as this will be going towards their flights. Any extra will be donated to ‘Wounded Warriors’ or a similar donation. Thanks for your time and support.”

Johnson did, in fact, reach his goal of $4000 in just 17 hours. While that is great, it is really sad to see that this happens at that level. Especially to someone with a moustache like that.
