Holly Holm out until 2019 after successful knee surgery

Holly Holm just went under the knife to repair a torn meniscus

Holly Holm underwent successful knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus that will leave her on the shelf until 2019 according to a report from Ariel Helwani. Holm will be recovering and rehabbing the knee and expects to return in 2019.  She could come back and face the winner of the Amanda Nunes/Cris Cyborg fight.

Holly was last in the Octagon in June when she defeated Megan Anderson by unanimous decision.  Holly lost a unanimous decision to Cris Cyborg in December but performed well and a rematch wouldn’t be frowned on by anyone. In fact, Holly said she wouldn’t be against a rematch with Cyborg. If Amanda Nunes is able to get by Cyborg, it sets up a potentially great fight with Holm and Nunes.

Widely considered to be among the best fighters in the UFC, Holly Holm owns a 12-4 record.
