The ‘Hurt Business’ with Jon Jones, Rashad Evans, Michael Chandler is now on Netflix

I didn’t know what to expect when I started the documentary ‘The Hurt Business’. What you get in this movie is an MMA history lesson and it’s residual affects on the athletes. If you know nothing about MMA, this film is perfect to help kick-start your obsession.

There are appearances by every MMA superstar you can imagine. The movie features Jon Jones, Rashad Evans, Michael Chandler, Joker Guymon, and Sara McMann. On top of that, there are a plethora of names who make appearances. Names like GSP, Tito Ortiz, Ronda Rousey, Bas Rutten, John McCarthy, Michelle Waterson, Chuck Liddell, Bruce Buffer and so many others.

The Hurt Business focuses on:

  • The evolution of MMA.
  • Individual fighters and their stories.
  • Injuries and rehab.
  • Long term effects.
  • Personal thoughts from fighters.

If you are a hardcore fan and have been since the UFC’s inception, not much will be new to you in this film. There were a few things that surprised me and most of them came from Big John McCarthy.

The movie is kind of a trip in the sense that some of the people they follow, like Jon Jones, took place in 2014. Then with guys like Michael Chandler and Scott Coker, it seems like their footage was taken from a few months ago. Again, if you know nothing about the sport, you’d be none the wiser. However, if you are an obsessed MMA fan, you may be scratching your head a little, in regards to the timeline.

For all of you fanboys out there, I am sorry. There is no Conor McGregor.
