USADA strikes again! Jessica Penne agrees to 18-month suspension.

Jessica Penne agreed with an eighteen-month suspension after failing a test in March.

Jessica Penne is in the news for all the wrong reasons. USADA sunk their teeth into another fighter, and this time it was Penne. She was tested on March 2oth, 2017 and while her test did not show any failure, it was marked for further evaluation due to “an increased degree of variability in urinary biomarkers measured in the sample.”

This test was done a month before Jessica met Danielle Taylor at UFC Fight Night 108. Jessica lost that fight via unanimous decision.

Jessica told USADA the result was due to a medication Dehydroepiandrosterone, which she stated was a medication her Dr. had given her information about. USADA was able to confirm that fact but opted to not grant Penne a TUE (Therapeutic Use Exemption).  USADA did, however, shorten the initial suspension from 24 to 18 months, effective April 22, 2017.  She will be able to compete again in August of this year.
