Jose Aldo wants to take a different route through boxing

There’s another UFC star lining up to try his hand in the boxing ring

Jose Aldo wants to box.  That said, he isn’t interested in calling out a mega-star and trying to cash in right away.  He has a genuine interest in becoming a champion, but he wants to start at the bottom and work his way up. Imagine that, actually putting in the time to learn a craft, and become good at it before calling out one of the best of the best.

Aldo follows in the footsteps of other UFC stars like Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz who are looking to trade in their four ounce gloves, for ten ounce gloves. Aldo however, seems to have the most noble approach.

Jose spoke to Combate. a Brazilian MMA News site and was transcribed by MMA Fighting.  He had the following to say about a potential career in boxing.

“First of all, it’s not about money. I want to keep it clear. Thank God the UFC and MMA gave me a lot of stuff,  Yes, I think about having a career in boxing, but I want to start from the bottom, start from zero. I want to get ranked and one day fight for a belt. Don’t want to fight just to fight, for money, to go after big fights and challenge a great champion.  I respect every boxer, but I want to start from the bottom. I want a career in boxing. That was my biggest dream, to one day become champion in MMA and boxing. That is my biggest dream.”

That’s a novel idea and it would be interesting to see how Jose would do in the world of professional boxing.
