Jose Aldo looks like he might be facing Jeremy Stephens at UFC Singapore
In a report posted by Ana Hissa, a Brazilian journalist close to the situation, Jose Aldo was offered and accepted a June fight with Jeremy Stephens. UFC Fight Night Singapore is set to take place on June 23rd, 2018 and air on FightPass. The fight would prove to be a very interesting Featherweight clash. It could very well determine a new title contender.
Jose Aldo (26-4) has only lost to two people in the last decade. He has been bested twice by champion Max Holloway and he was soundly defeated in 13 seconds by Conor McGregor. Outside of those two fighters, he’s been bulletproof in the Octagon. At one point, he had put together a string of nearly 20 consecutive wins. He’s lost three of four and needs a win badly against Jeremy Stephens if he is expected to get back into title contention.
Jeremy Stephens (28-14) might not have as strong a record but he is on an incredible tear as of late. He’s won three fights in a row, against difficult opponents. He dispatched Gilbert Melendez, Doo Ho Choi, and Josh Emmett. Stephens has increased his rankings all the way to #5.
When these two meet, it’s going to be a great fight. The winner finds himself in the mix to face the winner of Bryan Ortega and Max Holloway. The loser will find himself shuffled a few steps down the ladder. Ana Hissa’s announcement can be seen below.
