Just as quickly as Junior dos Santos was cleared for his false positive drug test, he’s booked for a fight. The former UFC heavyweight champion will face Bellator and WSOF veteran, Blagoy Ivanov. The two will square off in Boise, Idaho in the Fight Night main event.
This will be no pushover fight for JDS, as Ivanov has some serious credentials. He is a Sambo world champion, the former WSOF heavyweight champion, and a former Bellator Heavyweight tournament finalist. This will be a stiff test for Junior, who hasn’t competed since his loss to Stipe Miocic.
Brett Okamoto first reported the news for ESPN
“A heavyweight bout between former champion Junior dos Santos and Blagoy Ivanov is scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night on July 14 in Boise, Idaho.
Sources confirmed the planned matchup to ESPN on Monday. The televised event will take place at CenturyLink Arena.”
Dating back to 2012, JDS is 3-4 in his last seven fights. As for Ivanov, he has only lost one fight and it was to Alexander Volkov in 2014.
