Khabib Nurmagomedov will face Edson Barboza in a highly anticipated fight.
Khabib Nurmagomedov has been MIA since his last-minute withdrawal from a fight with Tony Ferguson at UFC 209. He will again be in action in what could be a title eliminator against Edson Barboza at UFC 219. The matchup features Barboza, perhaps the most feared striker at 155 versus Khabib and his grinding style.
Khabib (24-0) carries an undefeated record into the fight, and sans injury and weight issues, would be the clear-cut number one contender at Lightweight. In his last trip to the Octagon, he dominated Michael Johnson at UFC 205. The downside is Khabib has had six canceled fights in the past three years. Not all were his doing, the majority however were. Hopefully, this fight takes place as scheduled and we have a clear winner.
Edson Barboza (19-4) is a striking machine. He’s on a three-fight winning streak against the likes of Anthony Pettis, Gilbert Melendez, and Beneil Dariush.
This fight represents the number 2 and 3 ranked Lightweights in the UFC. All signs point to Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson meeting to unify the belt, so the winner of this fight is likely next in line for the shot at the belt.
