Kyoji Horiguchi turned down a UFC offer & left the promotion. He has a new home.
Kyoji Horiguchi is probably among the best Flyweights on the planet. He is (18-2) as a professional fighter, and had an amazing record of 7-1 inside the UFC Octagon. Not feeling properly compensated for his efforts, he opted out. Horiguchi turned down the latest UFC deal and left the company. Today he finds himself with a new home and a fight on the horizon.
Horiguchi was in San Jose for the Bellator 172 event this past weekend, and he met with Scott Coker of Bellator and Rizin executive Nobuyuki Sakakibara. Kyoji and Sakakibara were able to reach an agreement. Horiguchi is with Rizin, where he will compete on their April 16th card from the Yokohama Arena.
The former Shooto champion had his only UFC defeat at the hands of champion and pound for pound king Demetrious Johnson at UFC 186.
Kyoji is expected to host a press conference in the coming days, where his opponent for the April 16th card will officially be announced.
