The UFC’s first pay-per-view of the year is a mere eight days away and has just been hit with a bit of bad news. Rising heavyweight star Luis Henrique has been pulled form his UFC 208 bout with Marcin Tybura.
Henrique (10-2, 1NC) is not said to be injured, nor did he fail a drug test. Apparently it is due to an issue with his application to the New York State Athletic Commission. According to Laz Benitez, the NYSAC spokesperson, Henrique did not fully go through the application process before seeking approval.
“Mr. Henrique’s application was withdrawn prior to a determination being made by the Commission. Mr. Henrique is no longer proposed to compete on the UFC 208 card.”
At just 23 years of age, Luis is still just getting started. So hopefully this bump in the road is a small one.
No word yet on a replacement for Marcin Tybura.
We will have more on this as details become available.
