Manny Pacquiao wants to know who his next opponent should be

Boxing great Manny Pacquiao is set to step into the ring again April 22nd in the United Arab Emirates. Pacquiao (59-6-2) will be defending is WBO and lineal welterweight titles. There’s just one problem, he does not yet have an opponent lined up.

While he has thrown his name out to be considered for a matchup with Conor McGregor if a fight with Floyd Mayweather doesn’t materialze, Pacquiao still has boxing matches he is contractually obligated to.

Early on there were rumblings that a bout with Terence Crawford might materialze, but it appears that there have been quite a few road blocks for that one. From location to money, just about every hurdle that exists with every big fight is at play in this one.

It was announced earlier this year that a fight with Jeff Horn was scheduled for April 23rd in Brisbane, and while there seems to have been no official announcement that the fight it is off, that looks to be the case. At least as of right now anyway. (Note: Horn’s wikipedia page lists his next fight against Pacquiao, while Pacquiao’s lists his next fight as TBA)

With his match scheduled for just over two months away, Pacquaio took to twitter to seek help in finding a new opponent:

The fan friendly Senator gave his followers four names to choose from. A quick look at each:

Amir Khan (31-4) – Khan is the most well-known of the bunch. Having won titles at 4 different weight classes, Khan looks to rebound from a devastating KO loss to Canelo Alvarez. A Khan-Pacquiao showdown would certainly draw eyeballs.

Jeff Horn (16-0-1) – Perhaps the least known of the bunch, Horn has been making great strides in the welterweight division. He’s coming off of a 6th round TKO victory over Ali Funeka.

Terence Crawford (30-0) – The WBO and WBC junior welterweight champion, Crawford could pose the biggest problem for Pacquiao as he is every bit as good as his undefeated record suggests.

Kell Brook (36-1) – Brook just suffered his first loss at the hands of Gennady Golovkin, but remains the IBF welterweight title holder. With Pacquiao holding the WBO piece of the title, perhaps an attempt to begin unifying the division could be a bankable fight.

Currently the results of the poll are as follows (38,740 votes):

Amir Khan – 47%
Jeff Horn – 7%
Terence Crawford – 20%
Kell Brook – 26%

Alright, fight fans. The choice could be yours. Who do you want to see Manny Pacquiao fight next?
