Champion Max Holloway is set to face Frankie Edgar at UFC 222
If Max Holloway defeats Frankie Edgar, his legacy will be secure.
Max Holloway is fresh off of his victory over Jose Aldo, but he’s not taking an extended break. Word around the campfire (credit MMA Junnkie) is that he’s already set to defend his title at UFC 222 against Frankie Edgar. If Max Holloway were to defeat Frankie Edgar, it would be difficult to argue his place as the best Featherweight ever.
Max Holloway (19-3) has won an amazing twelve consecutive fights and his confidence is at an all-time high. He is the among the complete fighters in the sport and can stand up or grapple with anyone. His two victories over Jose Aldo set him into the really rare air as a fighter. A win over Frankie Edgar, and he’s the goat at Featherweight. Make no mistake about it, Max Holloway is elite.
Frankie Edgar (22-5) has been in wars and he wears the scars as proof. That said, he’s a multi-division champion and one of the most respected and admired fighters in the sport. Frankie has won seven of his last eight. The even more amazing aspect of that is he never gets an easy fight. He’s always in main events and competing against the best of the best.
This is a fight that true fight fans have been very excited about for a long time. There is no doubt in my mind that when they meet, the result will be a fight of the year candidate. I honestly can not wait for this, and it marks a number of really great fights coming up in the next 90 days.
