Current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes has shown no signs of slowing down lately. Last year, she plowed through Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey en route to winning and retaining that very same title.
Her plans for this year include becoming the first female two-weight world champion and taking on the winner of the Holly Holm – Germaine de Radamie featherweight title match coming up at UFC 208.
What about her plans beyond that? Well, fight fans may be upset to hear it, but she doesn’t plan on sticking around too much longer:
“Maybe a couple fights. Three, two more. I want to have a family.”
“Fighting and having a family at the same time is difficult.”
Nunes’ career started all the way back in 2008, but for most fans it feels like she’s just getting started. We no doubt would love to see Amanda stick around for years to come, so hopefully she reconsiders.
Her girlfriend, UFC strawweight contender Nina Ansaroff whom she corners, is coming off of a dominant performance of her own at UFC Fight Night 103. So in the event Amanda were to hang up the gloves, she would no doubt still very much be a part of the sport.
She had a lot more to say including her thoughts on Ronda Rousey and UFC president Dana White. Check out the video below to hear the champ in her own words:
