Social media was ablaze with excitement this morning after an interesting night of tweeting between Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier last night. Both claimed ‘yes’ on their respective Twitter accounts that they will be fighting for the newly-created 165-pound title.
I’m Happy to announce that I’m bringing a new weight devision to the Ufc
I’ll be fighting the main event November 3rd in nyc against Dustin Poirier for the first ever 165lb belt superfighter devision
I’m happy to be apart of history @ufc @danawhite

The rumor is that Dana White said this is absolutely untrue. Therefore, you know that it is going to happen. I kid, I kid.
It’s not the worst idea in the world to have a 165-division considering the 15-pound jump between lightweight and welterweight. However, MMA would turn into boxing with guys holding multiple titles and fans being totally confused as to who is the champ of what.
For now, according to Dana, it’s just a pipe dream.
