One of the biggest moments of Bellator 170 came in the co-main event when Paul “Semtex” Daley flattened “Irish” Brennan Ward with a flying knee. Ward was out cold instantly, and just like that, Daley was on the hunt for a new opponent.
Bellator’s welterweight division is stacked with talent so there was a long list of names that Daley (39-14-2) could have set his sights on after the victory.
But when Daley got on the mic he had only one name in mind:
“I’m Looking at everyone. Marquee names and champions. Rory MacDonald comes over here from the UFC and thinks he can do his bullshit over here. It ain’t gonna happen. Rory MacDonald gets in the cage with me and he’s getting knocked the f**k out!”
That’s a big call out for Semtex as “The Red King” is one of the biggest names in the division even though he is yet to have a fight for Bellator. How did Rory take it you ask?

That response is sure to get under Daley’s skin just a bit. It was a surprisingly witty comeback from the usually calm and quiet MacDonald.
Rory (18-4) does not plan on fighting again until he’s fully healed from a broken nose he suffered at UFC 189 in an epic battle with Robbie Lawler. Since then he admittedly came back too soon from the injury in dropping his last UFC bout to Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson.
Here’s to hoping MacDonald is having a quick and healthy recovery as this is one fight we can’t wait to see.
