Ryan Bader is officially headed to Bellator, will sign a multi-fight deal
Bellator has added a lot of depth in the past 2 years.
In what has been expected for quite some time, Ryan Bader has agreed to sign a multi-fight exclusive deal with Bellator, per Scott Coker. Coker spoke to MMA Junkie Monday morning and confirmed the news. No immediate match was announced and the details of the contract were not made available.
Ryan Bader (22-5) has won seven of his past eight fights, with the lone loss coming at the hands of Anthony Johnson. Bader won Season 8 of the The Ultimate Fighter, defeating Vinny Magalhaes in the finale.
It seems odd for the UFC to have let him go, as the Light Heavyweight division is thin, and Bader is among the best in the world. Dana White had stated that the UFC were not going to try and keep the 205-pound contender. He said, “We had told Ryan Bader he was good to go. We knew he was going to go to Bellator the entire time. I think Bellator is a good place for Ryan Bader. At this point in his career, I think it’s the right move for him.”
Bader holds a victory over current Bellator Light Heavyweight champion, Phil Davis, making a potential rematch all the more interesting.
