I love Sage Northcutt. The kid is always smiling, respectful, and willing to learn. He was a guest on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani and his disposition took center stage. He responds to questions by saying ‘Yes sir’ or calling Tyron Woodley ‘Mr Woodley’. His attitude towards life and his positivity are infectious. You just want to like the guy.
However, Northcutt took the fast track to the UFC and he certainly has a fair share of detractors. Fighters who are envious of his salary or critical of his skills have spoken out against him. Often times, saying he doesn’t deserve this or that.
Northcutt puts asses in seats. His 13 pack abs and Ken doll smile have made him a fan favorite. Granted, he still has a lot of work to do with his ground game, but his fights are always exciting and competitive. People want to watch him. As I continue to say… The UFC is now in the entertainment business, not the ‘who deserves what’ business. Sage Northcutt is great entertainment.
What he learned from the Mickey Gall fight
“Anytime you lose, you learn something. I’ll be back to down to 155, now. I’m still putting on muscle. Getting taller and bigger and still growing. I guess we’ll see, but right now, 155 pounds.”
The Diaz Brothers
“The Diaz Brothers just introduced themselves. I got to say hi to them. They were super nice guys. I got to meet them and some friends of theirs. I did see a picture online afterwards which was funny, because both me and the Diaz brothers were making the exact same posts.”
“They mentioned doing some training in the future, but we’ll see if that happens. They’re just super nice guys and it was cool to meet them.”
His next fight
“Not exactly a set date, but maybe sometime in the next 3 or 4 months and back at 155 pounds. I’ll be learning the most I can until then and improving.”
Keep doing your thing, Mr Northcutt. You sir, are super cool.
