Shayna Baszler is not a bad guy, she’s a bad gal. She is what the wrestling business calls a heel and she is a damn good one. After leaving the UFC, Shayna went straight to pro wrestling and worked her way to becoming a WWE superstar. Currently, Baszler is the NXT (WWE developmental) women’s champion, which is a huge deal. Usually, the biggest stars on the main roster start in NXT. Most of the time, their champions become the biggest of them.
When you are a champion in NXT, this means you are the next one to be called up to Monday Night RAW or SmackDown to perform on national television. This means Shayna is right on the cusp of superstardom.
Her character is just plain mean, too. She cheats, is a bully, and she loves to be booed. Baszler was born to do this.
Despite the fact that outside of pro wrestling she’s a mellow dog-loving and video game playing sweetheart, her on-screen persona is one of a villain. MMA and WWE fans are waiting for her call-up to the main roster to join her bestie, Ronda Rousey. Rousey is the biggest star in the WWE and Baszler is one of the biggest in NXT. When these two perform together, it could be magic.
Say hello to the future bad girls of wrestling.
