Fight Night Denver: Valentina Shevchenko vs Julianna Pena

The UFC put all of their eggs in one basket, in regards to their UFN Denver main event. We will see Valentina Shevchenko and Julianna Pena duke it out, for the #1 contender spot in the bantamweight division. More than likely, the winner will face current champion Amanda Nunes.

Shevchenko enters the fight with a huge unanimous decision victory over Holly Holm. Previously, she lost a decision to Amanda Nunes. It is doubtful that she is looking past Pena, but she definitely has Nunes in mind. Shevchenko is taking the Ivan Drago route, of letting her actions speak louder than words.

“I don’t like to speak. I like to use my fists to show.”

Julianna Pena is on a 4 fight win streak in the UFC and has been campaigning to Dana White for a title shot. A convincing win over Shevchenko should do the trick.

“I believe in myself and I’m going to put a bludgeoning on her. I’m going to take her down and I’m going to have her fighting a brick wall, until she gives up and gives me her back and I choke her unconscious.”
