After months of trash talk, Jake Shields took down Dillon Danis at SUG. Trash talk continues.

The much anticipated grappling match between Jake Shields and Dillon Danis took place at SUG (Submission Underground) yesterday. It was the trash talk and hype behind Danis that had everyone intrigued about whether or not he was the real deal. Danis proved that he is the real deal, but ultimately he lost to Shields.

Sadly, when you take a boisterous path, people want to see you fail. With his loss to Shields, fans have been all over Danis on social media today.

Danis is a friend and training partner of Conor McGregor, but he’s taken on some of Conor’s lesser qualities. Danis has been taking pictures with money, talking smack to pro MMA fighters, and after being signed by Bellator, he proclaimed he’s the highest paid athlete there. These things will irk fans and fighters.

In the ongoing Diaz/McGregor feud, this loss feels like one was chalked up for team Diaz.

Danis took to his Instagram:

“I show up to any rule set- Gi or No Gi and will take my losses like a man. Jake survived a 10 min onslaught of my submissions to beat me in the overtime round by 8 seconds for fastest escape. Fair play to him, he is a legend. I still believe in myself 100% and this will not define me. You will all swallow your words keep basking in another man’s struggles. I’ll remember everything.”

Shields then responded via his Twitter:

The probability of seeing these two go at it again is very high. If anything, because MMA is drama and fans love it.
