CM Punk said it best when he says that sitting down with Ariel Helwani was special. Punk doesn’t normally like to do interviews via Skype or phone etc. So every time the UFC comes to Chicago, Ariel tries to get a 1-on-1 unique sit down with Punk. This time is a lot more special because Punk is competing for the first time ever in MMA in his home city.
Punk goes into great detail about the defamation lawsuit that he just won and how it’s a huge weight lifted off of his shoulders. The highlight of this interview is definitely how he relates MMA and pro wrestling. In the WWE, no one was better at manufacturing fake beef than Punk. In MMA and real life, it’s totally the opposite. He feels no need to hype his fight and pretend that he hates his opponent.
For you wrestling fans, will he ever come back to wrestling? His answer of ‘maybe’ is a lot more promising than the word, ‘no’.
