We call shots. Canelo beat GGG, they’ll fight when we say – De La Hoya

Oscar De La Hoya has his best boxing promoter hat on right now. He represents Canelo Alvarez and after Canelo beat GGG, Oscar thinks that the ball is firmly in their court. Since Canelo won, Oscar feels that they call the shots now. He does have a point, too. They fought to a draw once and the second fight, Alvarez walked away with the win. Alvarez doesn’t need the fight, GGG does.

“Is (Canelo) going to fight GGG again? Yeah, whenever we say he’s going to fight him again. We call the shots now. Canelo beat him. If he’s going to fight him, it’s going to be when we say.”

I’m not sure that this fight needs to be run back AGAIN, but they’ll make a lot of money again if they did. That much is certain.

Nick Diaz- (Canelo) is basically one of those small guys I spar before I fight

Nick Diaz is so dope. He talks to TMZ and basically goes full ‘God-Mode’ with them when talking about himself vs Canelo Alvarez. The thing is, he may sound like a ranting lunatic when he speaks, but Diaz believes every word that he is saying. It absolutely is not an act and Nick is extremely spirited and candid with reporters.

“(Canelo) is going up to the 168 weight class and fighting some no-name. At the end of the day, he’d make more money fighting me. Let’s be real, Canelo moving up to my weight… You ain’t gonna win that. No way. He is basically one of those small guys I spar before I fight.”

God bless this man.

De La Hoya rips Mayweather. Calls him a lowlife, says he needs money

Canelo recently inked a REALLY big deal and of course, everyone had an opinion. However, Floyd Mayweather gets his feeling hurt when he isn’t the one that gets the big payday and lashed out on his Instagram. Canelo’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya took exception to Mayweather’s rant and called him a ‘lowlife’.

Mayweather posted on his Instagram,

“It didn’t matter if Canelo ate his PED steak or not this night, this was by far the easiest fight of my career! Connor McQuitter was a way better fighter than Canelo’s cheating ass and I beat the brakes off him too! It takes me 36 mins or less to make $300 million plus. It literally takes me 1 night and 1 fight to make what you might make in 5 years and 11 fights! So really, who’s still winning? You do the math!”

God forbid anyone makes more money than Floyd. The guy simply can not live with anyone other than him, making a lot of money.

The fighters will hit the scales at 2:30 PM PST

As the boxing world anticipates the rematch of GGG vs. Canelo Alvarez we’re minutes removed from them weighing in. Both fighters are expected to make their Middleweight mark and in doing so, it clears the last hurdle in this fight taking place. It has been postponed, delayed, canceled and rescheduled but we’re finally here. Alvarez tested positive for a banned substance at one point, postponing the fight. He won an appear however so the show goes on. Tomorrow night the rematch takes place and it should be amazing.

The weigh-ins are going to be available live right here at 2:30 PM PST and will be available on demand beyond that.

The two met for the first time in September of 2017 in what was a hotly contested and wildly controversial draw. Judge Adelaide Byrd turned in one of the more questionable scorecards in boxing history, and there was a major outcry to have her terminated as a judge. The general thought this time around is it’s going to be another great fight.

GGG is currently the odds-on favorite to win.

GGG vs Canelo slated for September, says Oscar de la Hoya

Don’t worry friends, GGG vs Canelo Alvarez wasn’t cancelled, it was just rebooked. Oscar de la Hoya confirmed to TMZ that the two boxing stars will square off in September.

Initially, Alvarez was busted for a doping violation, as an illegal substance was found in his bloodstream. Like most fighters who venture to Mexico, his team claimed that it was tainted meat that caused the drug test to come back positive.

If this was the UFC, Canelo would be subjected to huge fines and cancellations. However, this is boxing. Not much will happen, except the fight will be moved to September instead of May.

Thanks for the heads up, Oscar!

Continuing with the current fight narrative, GGG and Canelo is OFF

It looks like boxing didn’t want to be left out of the current MMA narrative. This week has been filled with big fights falling through and now, the biggest one in boxing is HISTORY. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m shocked that this fight will not be happening on its scheduled May 5th … Read moreContinuing with the current fight narrative, GGG and Canelo is OFF

Dana feels GGG vs Canelo will happen. “Too much money involved”

If there is one thing that Dana White knows, it’s boxing. He also knows the tendencies of the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Like most common fans know, there is simply too much money to be made for all parties involved in the GGG vs Canelo fight, to not make it happen.

The word is that if the fight isn’t happening, people will get their money refunded. However, White doesn’t think it will go that route.

“Yeah, I think it will (happen). There’s too much money involved.”

We’ve seen this in MMA a few times, most notably with Brock Lesnar and Jon Jones. There was so much money going to be made by people that the failed drug tests were shelved until after the fights.

Sometimes these things happen in MMA boxing.

Bob Arum: “If Canelo is guilty he should be suspended for a long period”

It makes all the sense in the world, right? If a fighter is found guilty of using a performance-enhancing drug, they should be suspended for a long time. Just using common sense would make most people agree with that. However, we are talking about boxing and millions of dollars; Common sense is thrown out of the window when it comes to lining people’s pockets.

Granted, if it was one of Bob Arum’s fighters who was found guilty of PED use, he’d try every trick in the book to get around any punishment. So when he is asked about Canelo vs GGG being allowed to continue on it’s scheduled May 5th date, Arum had this to say about Canelo:

“I think the Nevada Commission has to really investigate. If the drugs were taken in order to bulk him up and so forth, they’ve gotta suspend him and they’ve gotta suspend him for a long period.”

Arum goes on to say that there will be a hearing at the beginning of April for Canelo’s case. We will get our answers regarding whether or not the fight will continue or if Canelo will be suspended.

Stephen A Smith unglued, talking about how Canelo vs GGG must happen

In all fairness, Stephen A Smith becomes unglued when discussing the advantages of having a hummingbird feeder at your home. So, when the subject of anything that is sports related comes up on his show, he goes absolutely nuclear. In other news, water is wet and the sun is hot.

The whole situation with Canelo Alvarez getting popped for the use of an illegal substance has been a very hot topic as of late. He’s scheduled to fight GGG in a rematch on May 5, but this development has put a question mark around the event. Stephen A Smith is here to tell you that Canelo should be allowed to cheat because he wants to see the fight.

Stephen A is known to publicly crucify athletes who smoke weed. So, him being so adamant about it being okay that Alvarez may have used PED’s is kind of a head-scratcher.

“Nevada State Athletic Commission, STAY THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY!!!”

Yes, Stephen A. Let’s keep the sport dirty because the rematch will be a great fight. Can you imagine if someone said that about the NSAC in regards to an MMA fight?

GGG still willing to fight Canelo, despite thinking he’s a cheater

In a new interview with Gennady Golovkin, he states that he feels that Canelo Alvarez is a habitual drug cheat. Despite that, he still wants to fight him.

GGG claims that doctors (and other people) have sent him pictures and videos showing injection marks on Canelo’s stomach. He also says that Canelo was popping pills for muscle enhancement. However, he only seems to be focused on what he does, personally.

“I know I’ve never used medicals. I like a clean sport.”

Dan Rafael from ESPN reported other things that GGG said that were not in the video, yet very telling of his feelings about Canelo.

“Again with Mexican meat? Come on. I told you, it’s not Mexican meat. This is Canelo. This is his team. This is his promotion. Canelo is cheating. They’re using these drugs, and everybody is just trying to pretend it’s not happening.

This guy, he knows. This is not his first day in boxing. He proves he gets benefits from everyone and he can get away with it. Check him on a lie detector and then we can find out everything.”

While it all seems to irk him a bit, ultimately, he just wants to fight and it doesn’t matter if his opponent is clean or not.

Canelo Alvarez tests positive for banned substance before GGG fight

Uh-oh. News just broke that Canelo Alvarez has tested positive for a banned substance ahead of his rematch with GGG. Have no fear boxing fans, this isn’t the UFC or USADA and odds are that the fight will continue on its scheduled May 5 date. In typical fighter fashion, his camp has blamed tainted meat. … Read moreCanelo Alvarez tests positive for banned substance before GGG fight

Canelo Alvarez is a realist. Says that MMA is NOT for him.

Unlike many who try to go from sport to sport, Canelo Alvarez is a total realist. His entire life has been devoted to honing his boxing craft and there is no interest in transitioning to MMA. None.

I feel kind of bad for boxing guys because the more that Floyd Mayweather makes outrageous claims, the more reporters will pester boxers about if they will follow suit. The whole Floyd < Conor < Boxing < MMA love triangle has seemingly opened doors that were never even an afterthought. Now, this seems to be all the media want to make happen and they do this by asking the same ridiculous question over and over.

When Canelo is asked if there is any possibility that he may sort of, kind of, potentially, maybe, think about going to MMA; The reporter asking questions receives a resounding ‘NO’ in return.

The guy is a boxer. Shut up and let him box.

Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez: Final press conference

Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez: Final press conference

We are only a few days away from the biggest boxing match of the year. Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez take to the stage in the final press conference before their fight on Saturday, September 16.

It needs to be noted that boxing pressers are totally different than MMA pressers. Do not expect cans of Monster Energy and bottled waters being hurled between combatants. Usually, these press conferences consist of two fighters sitting there while everyone else talks about how great their networks and other companies are.

At one point during this presser, Canelo can be seen drawing pictures while he waits.

You may want to click towards the end to watch the fighters speak.

All the big boxing names weigh in on who wins between GGG and Canelo

The pros discuss who wins between GGG and Canelo

The real ‘best boxing fight of 2017’ is soon to be upon us. The superfight is taking place on September 16 and everyone in the boxing know are picking who wins. It looks as if the predictions were accumulated during May/Mac fight week.

Conor McGregor, Evander Holyfield, Freddy Roach, and Bernard Hopkins, to name a few, all give their thoughts. For true boxing purists, this is a dream matchup.

Canelo sports a record of 49-1-1. His sole loss came at the hands of ‘TBE’ Floyd Mayweather. With 34 knockouts to his name, both he and GGG could seemingly win the fight when one touches the other’s chin.

Gennady Golovkin sits undefeated at 37-0 with 33 knockouts. He has been labeled as the future of boxing, but getting past Canelo will be no easy feat. In fact, both fighters have earned the ‘future’ label.

The winner of this fight will probably be seen as the undisputed best in boxing, right now.

Ricky Hatton: “Oscar, Canelo, and I couldn’t hit Floyd. Conor’s not going to hit him.”

Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya, and Ricky Hatton couldn't hit Floyd Mayweather. How will Conor McGregor?

Look, Ricky Hatton is just keeping it real. He had a hell of a time with Floyd Mayweather in their fight. So did Canelo Alvarez and Oscar de la Hoya. Floyd Mayweather is arguably the greatest boxer of all time. There is no shame losing to him, even if you perform at the highest level.

These reporters just keep pushing for this fight and they ask the same questions over and over. Unless someone has a vested interest in Conor McGregor, no rational person will openly say that he has a chance.

Ricky Hatton loves Conor and what he’s done for MMA, but he’s a realist. Hatton isn’t saying these things out of spite. Far from it. When the boxing elite have failed to get close to Floyd, assuming Conor can do it, is hard to justify.

I’m not saying that Conor has ABSOLUTELY no chance… It’s just that he has VIRTUALLY no chance.
