Dana White: “DJ never got love and respect from fans that he deserved”

Um, what? Maybe I missed something in all of my years covering MMA, but Dana White said that Demetrious Johnson never got the love and respect that he deserved. This is very well documented as we fans have seen Dana White absolutely shit on DJ for YEARS. However, Dana went on record saying it was the fans who didn’t do their part. Again; What?

Fans have been supportive and have loved watching Demetrious Johnson for years now. With each title defense, fans got more and more on board the DJ train. In fact, before he fought Henry Cejudo, Johnso was considered by many to be the greatest fighter of all time.

Not Dana White, though. Never Dana White. I’m actually stunned that Dana placed the blame on the fans for this one. Then again, I’m actually not stunned that Dana placed the blame on fans for this one.

Could the UFC be turning the gears on TJ Dillashaw vs. Henry Cejudo

TJ Dillashaw

TJ Dillashaw was on the Joe Rogan Experience and hinted it might take place. Well, I guess Demetrious Johnson’s being the best Flyweight ever and the longest running UFC champion ever doesn’t earn him an immediate rematch. In what was a very hotly contested clash, Henry Cejudo defeated Johnson to become the Flyweight champion via … Read moreCould the UFC be turning the gears on TJ Dillashaw vs. Henry Cejudo

Top pros show how impressed they are with Conor’s ground skills

FightEffect on YouTube always put out great videos. Whether it’s cornerman audio during a fight or other things of the like, they put together fantastic videos which give us a view of things we may not normally see. In this case, they have a bunch of the top professionals in MMA and BJJ commenting on Conor McGregor’s ground skills.

Just because Conor has lost all of his fights on the ground does not mean that he doesn’t have ground skills. Conor is very good on the ground, but he can starch people with one punch while standing; So why even attempt to grapple?

FightEffect shows reactions from people like Demetrious Johnson, Rener Gracie, and Georges St-Pierre during McGregor’s fights. These top wrestlers and BJJ practitioners are commenting about his groundwork and being very complimentary about it.

Saying that he’s pretty damn good on the ground tells us a lot before going into his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. Does this mean that Connor’s better on the ground than Khabib? Probably not. However, it might not be as much of a cakewalk for Khabib as everybody is thinking.

Trying to make sense out of the muddled UFC rankings

UFC Rankings

Demetrious Johnson dropped to number 6 in the pound for pound list. The UFC rankings are an enigma that has become less and less reliable. By and large, they don’t matter, because the UFC no longer cares about rankings as it pertains to title fights, they simply book who they believe might sell. As a … Read moreTrying to make sense out of the muddled UFC rankings

TJ Dillashaw retained his title when he stopped Cody Garbrandt in the first round of their rematch. Cody again had Dillashaw hurt first, but threw caution to the wind and got sloppy, got clipped and finished. It’s the second time Cody had TJ on the rails in a fight, only to get stopped moments later.

Henry Cejudo made history when he became the first fighter to win Olympic gold and then earn a UFC title. He won a razor-thin Split Decision victory over Demetrious Johnson to become the Flight champion. It was an incredible fight and Henry pressured DJ for five rounds, earning the victory.

The main and co-main event combatants from UFC 227 all made out pretty well this past weekend. Each of the top four fighters on the card all pulled in six figures. Demetrious Johnson might have a new nickname, “Bigfoot”

Johnson has a badly swollen foot and believes he injured his knee as well Saturday night. Demetrious Johnson seemed to handle his loss to Henry Cejudo Saturday night exceedingly well. He clapped for the new champion as the results were read aloud by Bruce Buffer. He was gracious in his post-fight interview. He’s just a … Read moreDemetrious Johnson might have a new nickname, “Bigfoot”

Henry Cejudo open to running it back with DJ already

If you really pay attention to what is going on in this video, yes, that’s Henry Cejudo walking his new title belt in a stroller. Strollers are for babies and the flyweight belt happens to be Cejudo’s newborn. Despite the new addition to the Cejudo family, he’s open to running it back and giving Demetrious Johnson the opportunity of reclaiming it.

Cejudo has been on cloud 9 since his victory over DJ and rightfully so. Who can really blame the guy when he’s beaten arguably the greatest fighter who has ever lived?

Cejudo doesn’t look like he wants to be one of those guys who holds a belt hostage. In fact, he’s ready to defend it. When asked if he’d give DJ a rematch, Cejudo says,

“Let’s make it happen, baby. Whatever, whenever. I’m ready to throw down now.”

This is good news for Johnson, who more than deserves an immediate rematch just based on his history as flyweight champion. Although, Johnson seems to have sustained some injuries that could keep him out for an extended amount of time. We’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out but this is the fight that MMA fans are already calling for.
