Eduardo Dantas and and Michael McDonald suffer injuries at Bellator 202

Eduardo Dantas

I warn you, this video is not fun to look at.

Tonight at Bellator 202 Michael McDonald and Eduardo Dantas met in the co-main event. It took less than a minute for McDonald to take Dantas out, but both guys suffered nasty injuries. Michael McDonald confirmed during his post-fight speech that he broke his left hand. He said it’s absolutely broken and will require surgery. Yikes.

Then, I saw the replay of the TKO and I witnessed what happened to Dantas’ ankle, and it’s disgusting.  As he was falling to the canvas the ankle got caught underneath him and folded up at a horrible ankle. You could see through the skin that the bone likely broke, and it is a reminder of what these fighters risk every time they step into the cage.

MMA Relevant tweeted a video of the injury and we’re sharing it with you. Remember, it’s not a lot of fun to watch.

We here at MikeSwick dot com wish speedy recoveries to both fighters. Any time a fighter steps into a cage he is facing serious injury or even worse. That’s why win, lose or draw, you have to absolutely respect anyone and everyone who steps into the cage. These guys are wired differently from the rest of us.
