Georges St Pierre looking way slimmed down in latest Twitter post

Georges-slimmed-instagram

We are beginning to see version 2.0 of Georges St Pierre. A much slimmed down GSP posted a picture to Twitter and he looks really thin (for him). Usually, when fighters age, they move up in weight because their bodies just don’t respond the same as they did when they were young. Not GSP. Top pros show how impressed they are with Conor’s ground skills

impressed-ground-skills

FightEffect on YouTube always put out great videos. Whether it’s cornerman audio during a fight or other things of the like, they put together fantastic videos which give us a view of things we may not normally see. In this case, they have a bunch of the top professionals in MMA and BJJ commenting on Conor McGregor’s ground skills.

Just because Conor has lost all of his fights on the ground does not mean that he doesn’t have ground skills. Conor is very good on the ground, but he can starch people with one punch while standing; So why even attempt to grapple?

FightEffect shows reactions from people like Demetrious Johnson, Rener Gracie, and Georges St-Pierre during McGregor’s fights. These top wrestlers and BJJ practitioners are commenting about his groundwork and being very complimentary about it.

Saying that he’s pretty damn good on the ground tells us a lot before going into his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. Does this mean that Connor’s better on the ground than Khabib? Probably not. However, it might not be as much of a cakewalk for Khabib as everybody is thinking.

GSP shows his submissive posture after being charged by alpha gorilla

gsp-submissive-posture-charged-alpha-gorilla

Georges St Pierre, you are no Jane Goodall. What will it take for people to stop going into the wilderness to hang out with animals? I don’t know the answer, but GSP almost found out the hard way. On his Instagram, GSP recalled his encounter with an alpha gorilla and almost soiling his fancy pants while in a submissive position.

“This video was taken in Africa, seconds after an alpha gorilla charged me. I had to take a submissive posture and get out of his way. One of the most frightening and incredible experiences of my life. Even with all the fight training in the world, I wouldn’t have been a match for this one!”

You know how to not get destroyed by an alpha gorilla? YOU DON’T GO IN THE JUNGLE TO HANG OUT WITH BIG ASS APLHA GORILLAS IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Stay in the cage, where it’s safe.

The UFC Year in Photos – 12 Amazing Photos that define 2017 in the UFC

UFC Year in Photos

This is the UFC Year in Photos – a shot per month that reviews the year’s action.

2017 is a wrap and what an amazing year it was for the UFC. We saw new champions crowned, newcomers take the next step to stardom and enough knockouts and submissions to satisfy the most gluttonous of violence craving savages. Jon Jones head kicked Daniel Cormier but was then stopped by USADA. It’s time for the UFC Year in Photos.

Mike Perry knocked out Jake Ellenberger with a tremendous thud. It was an awesome year, and we’re happy to be able to choose one photo from each month to represent the year in violence.  We saw the return of Georges St-Pierre as he choked Michael Bisping unconscious and we witnessed Francis NGannou almost launch Alistair Overeem’s head into orbit.

It’s looking like Luke Rockhold will face Robert Whittaker at UFC 221

Luke Rockhold

Georges St-Pierre seems to be out of the Middleweight picture at this point. The UFC is nothing if not adaptable. Georges St-Pierre gets a hero’s welcome in Montreal Canadians hockey game.

Georges St-Pierre

Newly crowned Middleweight Champion Georges St-Pierre gets a huge ovation.

This is one of those things that as kids we all imagined could happen. We return to our hometown, triumphant in victory and get the standing ovation and hero’s welcome. For some, that dream becomes a reality. Georges St-Pierre was introduced at a Montreal Canadian’s game and the fans went bananas for their favorite son.

He walked out to center ice and raised his Middleweight Title above his head and fans showered him with support and adulation. I can’t imagine what that must feel like, but it has to be a serious thrill.

When the Seattle Seahawks won the Superbowl a few years back, the city of Seattle closed down for the parade. An estimated 700,000 people crammed into the streets of Seattle to get a glimpse of buses passing carrying their favorite athletes. It’s crazy.

UFC 217 The Thrill and the Agony preview video is amazing.

UFC 217 The Thrill and The Agony

When you watch the reactions of the families and teams, it takes it to another level.

UFC 217 will forever be remembered as a night that changed MMA. The UFC crowned three new champions and we witnessed the return of perhaps the best ever, Georges St-Pierre. The seemingly unbeatable Joanna Jedrzejczyk got beat. TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt met in the Octagon and violently attempted to sort their misgivings for one another. It was nothing short of amazing. I really dig these videos and UFC 217 The Thrill and The Agony is top notch.

This video shows the reactions of the cornermen and the families in attendance. When Pat Barry almost cries for Rose, it makes you want to tear up. When TJ Dillashaw and Duane Ludwig answer months of verbal barbs and hatred with a knowing look, and embrace, you feel it. When Joanna simply says, “Sorry” to her corner and breaks down in tears, you really feel for her.

It’s this emotional connection that we have with the sport and its participants that make MMA special. These videos highlight that in perfect form.
