Hannibal Buress talking Invicta on Late Night with Seth Meyers

I have been a little confused as to why when some people were talking about Invicta FC, comedian Hannibal Buress’ name came up. I’ve seen him at events and in the crowd but I was unaware that he was actually part of the show. Buress went on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ and revealed all of his involvement with the sport.

Basically, it started with Buress just wanting to get his name out there some more.

“I went to this fight and I saw all these people with banners. They had their names on fighter’s banners and they weren’t that exciting. Like, they were Toyota dealerships. If a Toyota dealership can definitely sponsor a fighter, I can definitely sponsor a fighter. So I reached out to this fighter and asked if I could sponsor her and put my face and website on her outfit and they were like, ‘Yeah’.”

The fighter was Janaisa Morandin and she missed weight, so all of the sponsor work was for nought. Buress then stepped his game up and decided to sponsor the entire Invicta 28 event.

“I asked if I could put my face on the mat. That way, no matter what happens I’ll be on there.”

Buress went on to talk about aging MMA fighters and how it’s so different from other sports. His comparisons are absolutely hilarious.

Hannibal, our sport doesn’t deserve you.

Invicta’s short doc: “Through the Ashes”. Ep 1, Pearl Gonzalez.

Invicta FC will be doing a bunch of docu-shorts on their fighters. Episode one is called “Through the Ashes” and it focuses on Invicta flyweight, Pearl Gonzalez. Gonzalez made it to the UFC with a 6-1 record, but quickly lost two fights and was released by the promotion.

Gonzalez then made her way to Invicta FC and found immediate success with a win in her debut with them. She fights at flyweight tomorrow night against Barbara Acioly at Invicta 29.

From Invicta FC’s YouTube:

“Invicta Fighting Championships and Victory Beef presents a brand new documentary series. Each episode will chronicle the martial arts journey of a single Invicta athlete, including never-before-told stories of overcoming adversity inside and outside the cage.

Episode One features Strawweight contender Pearl Gonzalez and her journey from the hard streets of Chicago to the Invicta cage.”

6 Star Podcast

We sit down with the amazing Julie Kedzie, and it’s awesome!

It’s time for another episode of the 6 Star Podcast. Julie Kedzie is amazing. She’s a college student, a former MMA star, the announcer for Invicta FC, a Twitter maven and all around badass with a giant brain. We talk about some of her MMA fights, calling the Invicta action, the sorrows of not being tolerant of lactose, her awesome dog Bailey and we even set her up on a date with Dion! It’s good stuff not to be missed.

Evan, Dan, and Dion talk a good bit of WWE. We also chat about movies, things from the 80’s. There’s plenty of general silliness that we typically fall into as well.
