Jeremy Stephens kept it real when he was asked why he thought people were ducking him. Fighters rarely go on record saying that they fight, simply because they are just violent people.
Usually, they are in love with the competition that MMA provides them. In some cases, fighters are in it for the fame and money. Not Stephens, however.
“Everyone thinks they are Conor McGregor, being this or that. Why don’t you just be you? Fight and do what we are paid to do. I don’t fight for fame or to go buy a gold watch. I’m old-school. I was brought up by Josh Neer and fighting around Pat Miletich.
I was fighting for fun and because I loved to do it. I’m not fighting to be brash, bold, or a famous person. I like to get in there and, personally, I like to hurt people and beat them down.”
Stephens fights this Saturday night against undefeated featherweight prospect, Renato Moicano.
