The episode of UFC 217 Embedded opens with Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt touches down in New York, He does some shopping and relaxes. He says he loves shoes and clothes. When he was younger he got all his clothes from Sears and WalMart so this is something he really enjoys.

TJ Dillashaw is shown picking up his coach Duane Ludwig at the airport. TJ has decided to hold his camp in California and he shows up how important nutrition is to him. He shows how his meals are prepared and laid out for him.  He has special treats as well, like black bean brownies…yikes.

Rose Namajunas is at the gym for her last day of camp. She’s working hard on pads and is wished well by her team as she prepares to fly to New York for the biggest fight of her career. We join her at the barber shop getting her hair cleaned up.

Joanna is also hard at work at the tail-end of training camp. We see Joanna jump on a Delta flight to head to NYC. While on board, Delta announces she is on board, and when she’s fighting. It’s a nice touch.

Middleweight champion Michael Bisping is in the hotel gym running on a treadmill. He says he’d be outside running but it is “Pissing down rain.”  He also says his team is all in their hotel rooms because he doesn’t need cheerleaders to run on a treadmill. Bisping is true to himself at all times. We then see Bisping recording his Podcast, The Believe You Me Podcast in the studio.

Georges St-Pierre packs for the trip to New York City and shows how he likes to fold his MMA gloves. The episode ends as GSP is winding down in his home in a hot tub.

UFC 211 Embedded: Vlog Series, Episode Three. Travel and Media obligations.

UFC 211 Embedded

It’s time for UFC 211 Embedded Ep. 3

The episode opens with Junior Dos Santos spending some time at the beach at night. He says he comes there to think and focus. He goes for a swim and says, “These little moments that you have by yourself, are the best moments.”  He then is seen with his family at a local Coconut Creek restaurant.

We then are transported from the beauty of Florida to the less beautiful Cleveland as Stipe is shown working out in his gym.  We then visit Stipe’s home, where he and his wife are answering fan mail. Stipe is about as funny a guy as there is in the UFC, and he should most definitely have his own show. He’s shown traveling getting ready to depart for some media obligations.

Next, we’re taken to Brazil and the home of Jessica Andrade. She’s packing up her stuff, getting ready to travel to Dallas. Her wife and she are laughing about bringing jackets, everyone seems really relaxed.

We head to Florida again, to catch up with Joanna as she is leaving town as well. She’s headed to Hartford, CT to do some media at ESPN. She poses with an officer for a picture and is on her way.  Joanna and Stipe get in a car and are driven to ESPN headquarters. They say ladies first, and Stipe goes first and gets made fun of for it.  Stipe practices his ultra smooth radio voice and makes everyone laugh.

The last scene, a lady from ESPN comes up and asks if she can touch Stipe’s belt and he says, “Of course.” As she leans in to touch the top of it, he says, “No, not there!” and she panics before he tells her he’s just kidding. Classic Stipe, never change, please.

UFC 211 Embedded: Vlog Series, Episode Two. The calm before the storm.

UFC 211 Embedded

The UFC is back with Embedded, Episode 2

Time to take a look at the new Episode of UFC 211 Embedded. The more you see Stipe Miocic live his life, the more you understand he’s not like other people. The episode opens with Stipe shooting a pellet gun, and then a slingshot at some targets. He’s managed to put a hole in the wall but thoroughly enjoys himself.  He definitely enjoys his life, and it’s great to see.

We visit American Top Team and watch Junior Dos Santos work out a bit. We also hear him sing a nice little version of “In the jungle.”  They have the cage in the gym wrapped in fabric to nobody can see what they’re working on. Big secrets at ATT.

We see Jessica Andrade taking care of her house. We hear from her wife, about the balance in her life.  Jessica and her wife attend a BJJ tournament where some of her teammates are competing.  It’s a nice look into her life away from the 15 minutes we see at a time of her normally.

We are then taken to Joanna Jedrzejczyk’s home in Coconut Creek, FL. Joanna is getting an adjustment from a chiropractor and getting her body ready for competition.  We then follow her to American Top Team where she gets a workout in, preparing to defend her title.  They go to a noodle bar and eat dinner. The episode ends with Joanna saying the meal is on Dana White, and thanking him.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk responds to Waterson fight rumors

Joanna Jedrzejczyk responds to Waterson fight rumors

Reports came in yesterday that a potential UFC strawweight title match between current champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and former Invicta FC atomweight champion Michelle Waterson, was set to be announced.

While there has been no movement on that front as of yet, Joanna was in Denver last night for the UFC on FOX card and was asked about it after the show.

“There is a rumor that I am going to fight Michelle Waterson on (UFC)210 probably, but it’s not true.”

“I’m not going to fight Michelle Waterson yet. I’m still waiting for the date and the name of my opponent.”

She did mention that they have been given two dates for a fight, but nothing final as of yet. She was further pressed on the Waterson fight, being asked if she would like to fight the “Karate Hottie”:

“Of course. She’s a good fighter but she had just one fight. She was injured for a long time. But I think that she’s not the next challenger for me.”

If there’s one thing we are used to seeing happen in mixed martial arts, and the UFC specifically, it is being told that a fight isn’t going to happen, only to see that very fight announced within the next few days.

So whether or not Jedrzejczyk was just being coy, or if she was in fact shooting down the rumors, we will have to wait and see. She did reiterate, however, that they would know in a few days what her future holds. So we will have more on her next fight as it breaks.

Check out the full interview below as she touched on Waterson, her 2107 schedule, and a 125lbs division, courtesy of MMAFighting.com:

Michelle Waterson: Either Rose or Carla would lead to an interesting fight

Calling girls out isn’t Michelle Waterson’s style. After her stellar victory at UFC on FOX over Paige VanZant, she has been bombarded with questions regarding who is next.  She’s asking for anyone in the top 5, but narrowed it down to 2 girls in a recent interview with tmz sports.

Michelle Waterson: “I’ll narrow it down to 2 girls. I have ultimate respect for both ladies and I think both of them will be great fights… If they don’t give me Joanna Jedrzeczyk first, It will either be Rose (Namajunas) or Carla (Esparza). I think both of those ladies would be an interesting fight.”

Either of those fights makes sense for the Michelle Waterson. She’s been in fighting for close to 10 a decade and she just broke through the mainstream bubble. Strike when the iron is hot, as they say.

Waterson also addresses other subjects in her interview. She talks about being congratulated by Paige VanZant backstage after their fight, as well as crossing over and participating in things that are more mainstream.
