UFC on FOX: Calgary, epic Fight Motion video of the event

fox-calgary-epic-fight-motion-video

The UFC never disappoint when they release their Fight Motion videos after a fight card. This past weekend we were treated to the UFC on FOX from Calgary and that card delivered big time. Luckily for the fans, the whole event was captured with the UFC’s Fight Motion technology.

We are able to watch every bone cracking punch and skin flailing from the skeleton with each strike. The video highlights most of the important fights, but of course, the biggest highlight comes in the shape of Jose Aldo’s body shot on Jeremy Stephens.

The look of pain on Stephens’ face is really captured with Fight Motion. Fans genuinely get a sense of how much that punch to the liver by Jose Aldo, sucked.

Thankfully, they left out Eddie Alvarez’ 12-6 elbow that everyone is whining about. Lord knows we don’t need to beat that subject to death anymore.

Jose Aldo’s nasty body shot on Jeremy Stephens was pure artistry

jose-nasty-body-shot-stephens-artistry

I have re-watched the artistry that was Jose Aldo’s body shot on Jeremy Stephens a few times now. The combo that he threw to signal the beginning of the end was reminiscent of Donald Cerrone’s combo that took Rick Story out. While the combos were different, it was like watching a masterpiece being painted.

Jose Aldo showed that as long as he’s conscious, he is dangerous. Aldo was going through a bit of a rough patch that saw him go 1-3 since 2015. In his first non-title fight since 2009, Aldo really needed to show that he was still a threat. After last night, I think he has proved that he is.

The knock on him was that he was ‘chinny’ now after years of competition. He seemed to take Stephens’ best shots and never looked out of the fight. Then came the right hand up top and the left to the body that folded Stephens. While Stephens protested the stoppage, it was undeniable that Aldo had crushed him. Stephens has been on a roll and the win proved to be an emotional one for Aldo.

Jose Aldo claims he’s fighting Ricardo Lamas at UFC 217 in November.

UFC on FOX 30

This fight has not been announced by the UFC but would be a lot of fun!

UFC 217 is in Madison Square Garden and features the return of Georges St. Pierre taking on Michael Bisping. It also features Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw finally squashing their beef inside the Octagon.  Well, if Jose Aldo is correct, you can add his name to the marquee as well, as he says he’s facing Ricardo Lamas on the same card.

In this video, courtesy of ES News, Jose Aldo says he eats pasta from Olive Garden every day and has an upcoming fight on November 4th against Lamas. Here’s the video.

Ricardo Lamas (18-5) has won two consecutive fights, defeating Charles Oliveira and Jason Knight. He’s currently the #3 ranked Featherweight in the UFC.

Jose Aldo (26-3) has lost 2 of 3 to elite fighters Max Holloway and Conor McGregor. He also defeated Frankie Edgar two fights ago. Jose is always considered a big threat at 145 pounds, and the winner of this fight could find themselves in line for a title shot against Max Holloway.

The confirmed UFC 217 card can be seen here.

MMA fighters have that boxing bug. Watch Mikey Garcia spar Jose Aldo.

The boxing bug bit Jose Aldo

Fresh off of his destruction of Adrien Broner, Mikey Garcia spars with MMA legend, Jose Aldo. Aldo is the latest MMA fighter who caught the boxing bug and wants to make the crossover. I must say, Aldo has a very good traditional boxing style.

It’s nice to watch an entire sparring session, not just edited ten second clips. I of course am referencing the Paulie Malignaggi/Conor McGregor sparring clips. Garcia and Aldo allow us the opportunity to gauge for ourselves how their rounds went. Watching this video, I think they went pretty well for Jose.

Garcia’s camp are very complimentary to Aldo and Aldo looks eager to learn. The cardio difference in the two sports is monumental. In this video, Jose is absolutely exhausted after three, three minute rounds.

How lucky are we, to watch this for free?
